Surf Beaches

Bemm River offers some of the most pristine surf beaches on the eastern sea board.  All of which are an easy drive from the township and accessible from the Pearl Point Road.

Py-Yoot Bay is a sheltered surf beach with rock pools and great for children to enjoy. Pearl Point is the furtherest surf beach which is approximately 9.8kms from the town. This is close to Py-Yoot Bay.  Gunnai Beach, 6kms, Binn Beach 5.4 kms and Ocean Beach 4.4kms

Pearl Point Surf Beach

Dock Inlet

Immerse yourself in the tranquility of Dock Inlet, a exclusive land locked expanse of fresh water isolated from the coast by a coastal dune barrier. The inlet is fed by the east and west branches of Dock Creek from a unspoiled catchment. The shallow tannin coloured waters support a various range of waterfowl.

You may even be lucky enough to spot the White-bellied Sea Eagles that are often seen in the area.

Access

There is no vehicle access to the Dock Inlet camp area. Access is by foot or by cycling along a long sandy track from Pearl Point Road or Yeerung Road. There is also access via the beach from Cape Conran or Pearl Point.

 

Distance from Bemm River – approx. 8kms to the gate, then approx.3 kms from the gate into the Inlet.

Bemm River Recreation Reserve comprises playground,public conveniences, shelter shed with local history, tennis courts, picnic tables.

Luderick Park

Situated opposite the hotel, this lovely area has bbq facilities, public conveniences and access to the lake. The Cenotaph is also located close by.

Dolly's Garden

Boasts an impressive fishing platform which sits directly on the bank of the 'Bemm River'.

Enjoy the rural views of the farm on the other side of the river whilst you try to catch that illusive fish.  This area has eco friendly toilets, picnic tables and car parking.

Mt Cann Tower Walk.

This area offers some amazing bush walks where you can view stunning flora. A walk to the Mount Cann Tower will take approximately 4 hours.  A 6km return walk along a track on the ridge top with a 300 metre climb over the last 2km to the tower. Absorb the amazing views, especially on a clear day.

Beach Walk:

Bemm River to Clinton Rocks (Tamboon)- 14km

Mainly beach walking. Entrance crossing may be required at Sydenham Inlet and Tamboon Inlet may need to be negotiated if open to the sea. Boat transport may need to be arranged, or low tide required to safely cross the inlet. There is a large section of rocks to negotiate at Clinton Rocks. It would be adviseable to contact your nearest Parks Victoria office before undertaking this walk.

Luderick Point Boat Ramp

Plenty of car and boat parking, floating pontoon and dual boat ramp in addition to fish cleaning facilities and a large fishing platform nearby.

Mini Rainforest Walk

Meander through the rainforest along the creek which flows into the Bemm River and you will find a recently constructed fishing platform on the river. Enoy the peaceful calming sound of the water flowing whilst you view the ferns and vines.   This is not far from Dollys' Garden as you head out of town.  Close to 'Wingy's Corner.  You will see an area on the grass to park.  This area would be ideal to escape the heat on those hot summer days.
